Belarus sees Egypt as key partner in Middle East, Africa
CAIRO, 30 April (BelTA) – Egypt is one of Belarus’ key partners in the Middle East and in Africa. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement as he met with Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly, BelTA has learned.
Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko is in Egypt on an official visit. He held one-on-one negotiations with his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly. Then the meeting continued with more participants.
Roman Golovchenko expressed appreciation and gratitude to his Egyptian counterpart for the invitation to visit the Arab Republic of Egypt and for the warm welcome the Belarusian government delegation had enjoyed. The Belarusian prime minister stressed: “Egypt is one of the key political and economic partners of Belarus in the Middle East and in Africa.”
Roman Golovchenko also remarked that the potential of Belarus-Egypt trade and economic relations is much higher than the current trade turnover figures. “The governments of our countries should do their best to secure positive trends in foreign trade,” the prime minister stressed.
As a result of the expanded-participation negotiations between the prime ministers of Belarus and Egypt the parties signed several documents aimed at advancing the bilateral relations. In particular, an agreement was signed by the Belarusian government and the Egyptian one on a mutual trade facilitation system. It will enable priority clearance for goods and vehicles of foreign trade operators at border crossings in accordance with the national legislations. It will simplify customs formalities, rule out customs inspections at border crossings except for when risks of violations of customs laws of Belarus and Egypt are detected.
A memorandum of understanding and bilateral cooperation between the Belarusian Finance Ministry and the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) was also signed in Cairo today.
Apart from that, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding between the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus and the General Authority of Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) of Egypt.
